Next up:

A much needed rest for the varsity guys. The Fr/So. and JV squad will hold down the fort at this Tuesday, October 2nd's Madison County Championships and next Saturday, October 6th's Centralia Invitaional.

Let's buckle in down the stretch as non-varsity runners only have 4 meets to go and the postseason is just around the corner for the varsity team. We will be ready for some great performances coming up.

All runners on both levels earned medals.

Varsity runners: Liz Speicher (2nd), Courtney Smith (3rd), Kaci Smith (5th), Lia Saunders (10th), and Kristin Hodge (18th) were the scoring force for the Tigers. Speicher set the school record for our course and ran the 5th fastest time of any female competitor every on our course (19:11). Kaci Smith posted the 5th best performance in school history and earned entrance into the sub 20:00 club, which only 30 female runners from any school have earned a spot on (Courtney Smith, Lia Saunders, and Liz Speicher are already members). The team took the top spot in a field of 19 over Mahomet Seymour.

JV Runners: Stephanie Dalla Riva (2nd), Diane Frese (4th), Ellen Atwood (5th), Emily Firsching (6th), Sierra Goldsmith (11th), Abbey Frese (13th), and Laurin Wright (14th) all medaled for the Tigers. The JV team took first place in a field of 9. 50pts. better than second place Centralia.

Growing Pains in Peoria

The girls varsity X-C team took their lumps in the AAA version of the Peoria Woodruff X-C Invitational.

The Tigers took 11th in a field of 34 teams.

The bright spots of the day were 11th and 24th place medalists in Liz Speicher and Courtney Smith. Way to go girls. Kaci Smith, Kristin Hodge, and Lia Saunders rounded out the scoring.

We MUST do better than this or we will be spectators or at home come November.

Pick your heads up ladies and march on. We are certainly better than we showed.

Meet Switch on Saturday, September 22nd

Athletes and Parents,

We will no longer be attending the Hancock Invitational on Saturday, September 22nd.

We will now be going to the East Peoria Invitational at ICP in Peoria.

This is the site of this year's Sectional meet.

This will give our athletes a chance to see the Sectional course and increase the chances of us being able to qualify. Hancock is a meet we look to continue with regulary.

The first race is at 9:00a.m. (Girls Varsity)

There are four races (Both Varsity's and two Fr/So. Races)

We will leave very early at 5:00a.m.

Please plan accordingly.

Fr/So. Team Excels on Varsity

Congrats to Wed Varsity team of:
Stephanie Dalla Riva, Ellen Atwood, Emily Firsching, Bre Schuett, Diane Frese, Laurin Wright, and Sierra Goldsmith on taking 2nd in a field of 16 at the Tiger Classic.

An outstanding effort by Dalla Riva (10th), Atwood (12th), Firsching (21st), and Schuett (26th) to medal led the team. D. Frese wrapped up the scoring in 36th.

It was scorching hot and the times were not all that fast but the effort was there from all parties.

Meanwhile the JV team led by Junior Abbey Frese won the 13 team affair.
Medalists were:
A. Frese (4th)
Dehlia Jahns (9th)
Kayla Dowell (13th)
Sam Duft (14th)
Ashlie Benson (15th)
Bridget Fisher (16th)

The JV Tigers would have fared even better save for the collapse of Kelsey Streiter. Kelsey was in 4th most of the way but succombed to an electrolyte imbalance with about 200m to go. She is fine and will be back with the team shortly.

Great job girls.
