Repeat Performance

Congratulatoins to the EHS Girls X-C on their Sectional Championship performance at the I.H.S.A. Centralia Sectional.

The title marks the second consecutive title for the girls and the second in school history. The win nets them a 3rd consecutive appearance at the I.H.S.A. State Championships.

Super Soph Courtney Smith dazzled the crowd by giving an instant replay of her victory in last weeks Regional. She was again followed by Liz Speicher for her second consecutive second place showing. Try saying that three times fast :) Lauren Heidbrink off her Conference Championship from a few weeks ago came in at 6th to earn All Sectional Honors as well. Kaci Smith and Lia Saunders rounded out the scoring.

The Tigers will be headed to Detweiller Park next week at full strength as Courtney Smith, Speicher, Heidbrink, Kaci Smith, Saunders, Leah Bateman, and Kristin Hodge will all be in the lineup together for the first time since the Centralia Invitational.

Enjoy the title ladies, and good luck next week as we say a fond farewell to our two seniors Lauren Heidbrink and Leah Bateman in their final time in the Tiger jersey. Run your "tails" off for them.

Roaring at Regionals

Congratulations to the girls X-C team on their 2nd consecutive Regional title.

The day was owned by the Varsity trio of Courtney Smith (19:11), Liz Speicher (19:17), and Kristin Hodge (19:51) who swept the top 3 spots.

The scoring was finished off by senior Laura Bevis (20:51.2) who had an outstanding run in her final career race to edge freshman sensation Stephanie Dalla Riva (20:51.59).

Bre Scheutt (21:58) was 26th place. While JV captain and senior Taylor Frese ended her career with a 42nd place finish in a very strong 23:16.

Great job ladies. Great career Laura & Taylor. Thanks for all you done for the team and meant to us.

Next up. The Centralia Sectional and a chance at the team's third consecutive state berth and 4th ever appearance.

Courtney Smith, Liz Speicher, Kaci Smith, Lia Saunders, Lauren Heidbrink, Leah Bateman, and Ellen Atwood will attempt to defend the Sectional title against some top notch competition.

Arrive this Saturday, October 28th at 6:50a.m. for a 7:00a.m. Departure.

Good luck.

2nd at Conference

Congratulations to the girls team on placing 2nd of 8 teams in the Southwestern Conference Championship.

The JV top 5 carried the load with a little help from varsity regulars Lauren Heidbrink & Kristin Hodge.

Lauren Heidbrink ran like a true veteran taking the Conference title in this her senior campaign. Kristin Hodge placed 4th for all Conference honors.

Stephanie Dalla Riva, Laura Bevis, and Breanna Schuett rounded out the scoring. Great job girls. We were just 8pts. behind a young but strong O'Fallon team.

Next up: The Postseason.

It all counts now. I.H.S.A. Regional at East Alton Wood River's Belk Park next Saturday, October 21st.

Madison Madness

Only a very hot day on a course with no shade the Tigers prevailed for the third straight time as Madison County Champions.

The Tigers survived the heat to emerge with 5 medalists. Some gritty performances by Ellen Atwood and Bridgette Hoover secured the title for the Tigers by a mere three points over Triad.

The super star of the meet though was Breanna Schuett. Running 20:17 on the 3.2 mile course to establish a new course record and become only the third Madison County Champion in EHS history (Amy Semith x 2, Nikki Hausman).

Medalists for the Tigers were:
Bre Schuett (1st)
Stephanie Dalla Riva (2nd)
Ellen Atwood (5th)
Bridgette Hoover (6th)
Laura Bevis (15th)

On the JV side it was a no doubter. The JV Tigers won with a scant 17pts. taking 8 of the top 10 spots.

Emily Firsching was tops in the JV race.

Nice job girls. It's on to Centralia this weekend and Conference a week from this Friday. The end of the season for most draws ever closer. Make the most of your opportunties.
