Congratulations to the varsity girls on their third place team finish and to the Fresh/Soph JV girls on their first place team finish! All girls ran well at this meet! Congratulations to Sophmore Diane Frese on her first place individual finish in the fresh/soph. race! Great Job Diane!

Varsity Race - Senior Courtney Smith was the top finisher for Edwardsville with a 17th place medal and a 19:07 time. Lizzie Anderson (21st), Briana Chamberlain (23rd), Alex Wever (26th) and Courtney Lybarger (32nd) all ran strong races. These four girls all finished withing 33 seconds of Courtney Smith keeping our pack tight and close together. Great job girls! We need to keep up this good work and contiue to make the pack even tighter! Juniors Stephanie Dalla Riva and Megan Ruddy finished as the Edwardsville 6th and 7th runners with identical times of 19:56. Megan, I am very proud of your efforts this year. Stephanie, you will run varsity at Peoria this Saturday, I am so happy for you!!! I am very proud of your race at E.Peoria. Thankyou for all of your hard work and team leadership!!

Congratulations to Katie Speicher for finishing in first place individually! This was Katie's first win at the high school level! Katie started the race fast with an early lead and continued to work hard throughout. Katie you are an incredible worker and run with so much heart, we are all proud of you!! Siera Rallo continued her rapid improvement with a fourth place individual finish while running a great race!

Edwardsville Invitational

Congratulations to the EHS Varsity and JV girls cross country teams for their first place finishes at the 43rd annual Edwardsville Cross Country Invitational.

The Varsity race featured the top five Edwardsville girls in the top twelve individually. The team ran well as a pack while continuing to show improvement. Senior Courtney Smith finished first on her team. Junior Megan Ruddy did a GREAT job in her very first varsity race! Megan also won her first individual varsity medal! Freshman Lizzie Anderson ran a strong race finishing fourth on her team. Junior Emily Firsching also ran in her first varsity race and has been a super worker all season. Freshman Courtney Lybarger showed fantastic mental toughness to gut out a solid race despite not having her best day physically! Freshman Briana Chamberlain continues to represent her team well as the number two runner while showing superior effort! Great Job Girls!

In the JV race senior co-captain Kristin Hodge finished in first place individually! Great Job Kristin! Her time was very impressive! Kristin will run varsity at East Peoria next Saturday! Junior Stepahanie Dalla Riva finished second on her team and third overall in this race with a Super effort! The JV girls were one place away from a perfect team score in this race! All seven girls won medals. Great job girls!

In the Open Race freshman Katie Speicher ran an INCREDIBLE race!!! Katie also finished in first place. Katie is a tremendous worker and tough runner. Great Time, Effort and Great Job Katie! Freshman Siera Rallo in her first season of cross country ran a very good race and is doing a tremendous job adjusting from track to cross country! Freshman Emily Laurent ran a very nice time, she has been such a hard worker all season!

Peoria Woodruff Invitational

Peoria Woodruff Invitational - Saturday, September 13th

Congratulations to all Edwardsville runners for their performance on a very soggy and muddy cross country course. You all ran well despite the conditions, a very early departure and a long bus ride! The effort was great, running at this meet will make you stronger. We are continuing to improve, keep up the Great work!

Freshman Lizzie Anderson ran her first varsity high school race and did a great job! Sophmore Alex Wever continues to run strong on the varsity team. In the open race Junior Megan Ruddy finished in 30th place out of 625 runners with a great race . Megan continues to show tremendous improvement in her first year running cross country! Junior Emily Firsching finished in 40th place in the open race with a strong run. In addition to being a great role model for the younger girls on the team, junior Ellen Atwood ran a great race finishing in 44th place out of over 600 runners with a time 13 seconds faster than last year (with a much, much slower course this year).

Congratulations to freshman Lizzie Anderson who finished in first place individually in the JV race! Lizzie earned her first high school medal and race victory today! Sophmore Diane Frese ran an incredible race finishing in second place while running a PR on the Mud Mountain course!

The varsity girls ran very well as a pack and showed alot of heart moving up late in the race! The girls were led by senior Courtney Smith. Freshman Briana Chamblerlain ran a very nice race and finished in 8th place individually! Sophmore Alex Wever ran a sub 22 minute time on a tough 5k course earning her a 13th place medal.

Take Interstate 55 North to Lincoln, IL
Take Interstate 155 North from Lincoln, it splits off 55 to your left (signs will say Peoria)
Take Interstate 74 West (155 ends) you must take 74 either east or west (Take West)

Drive West on Interstate 74 until you reach Peoria
Cross the Illinois River
Exit at Adams Street (Illinois Route 29)
Drive North approx. 7 miles
The park/course is on the west side/left side of Route 29

Granite City Invitaitonal

A special thanks to all parents who helped with the cookout/picnic after the race. We have lucky athletes!

Congratulations to the girls for their performance at the Granite City Invitational on Saturday, September 6th. The JV girls finished in second place as a team while the Varsity girls finished in 5th place.

Freshman Courtney Lybarger and Briana Chamberlain stepped up big and performed great in their first varsity race at the high school level! Senior Courtney Smith finished with a 12th place medal. The girls ran well as a pack and will contiue to improve throughout the season. I know the Freshman will continue to improve as they adjust to the three mile distance and gain confidence at the high school level. I also know that the older girls will improve once they get more race experience and additional mileage.

Kayla Dowell ran a great race in the JV division with a third place individual finish. Freshman Courtney McCarty and Katie Speicher ran great times in the JV race (this was their first big inviational at the high school level). These two girls aslo received medals for finishing in 18th and 22nd places respectively, great job girls! Juniors Megan Ruddy and Emily Firsching finished with 10th and 11th place medals while posting great times. Diane Frese also medaled in the JV race with her 12th place finish. Senior Abbey Frese agreed to run the JV race only 35 minutes before race time and finished with a 26th place medal, thanks for filling in Abbey!

Everyone ran great in the open race! I am proud of you girls! You are improving and will continue to improve. Sierra Goldsmith, Breanna Schuett and Laurin Wright all ran impressive times under 22:00.

Help Request

Parents, we are asking for assistance throughout the season. We are looking for parents willing to organize and/or to bring refreshments (food, water and gatorade) to all away meets this season. Some of the meets further away (Peoria/East Peoria) usually have food delivered to the courses (subs or pizza). If you think you can help, please contact Coach Patrylak or Lisa Thompson.

We are also looking for parent volunteers to assist at all home meets this year. This includes Wednesday, September 10 and Saturday, September 20 this year. Please check the schedule for other home meets for EHS, Liberty and Lincoln. Thank you for your help and dedication.
